Dreamcatchers originated with Native American tribes. Native American Dreamcatchers take the shape of a hoop with a web of threads or strings. Some Native American tribes believed that spiders were a symbol of protection. The web of the Dreamcatcher is believed to catch bad dreams and nightmares which are then dissolved in the early morning light of the sun. Good dreams know how to get through the web and they drop onto the sleeping person and in this way give good dreams which comfort the sleeper. The soft feathers of the dreamcatcher allow the good dreams to float to the sleeping person.
