March 25th is the usual date for celebrating the Annunciation – the time when the Angel Gabriel appeared to the Virgin Mary with ‘good tidings of great joy’, telling her that she had been chosen to be the Mother of Our Lord.

Gabriel is considered by some to be the angel who is the bringer of good news and joyful messages.  This year Sunday March 26th happens to be Mother’s Day here in the UK.
